It will top out at 100km/hr, but I rarely go that fast anymore. I usually travel between 80-90km/hr, to save fuel & maintenance.
I get asked this a lot. Don't really have any answer, other than it's my job. I'm not bothered by confined spaces.
It's rated 200,000lbs at 9' radius with 38' of boom. Seems like a lot? It is, however it's not practical when configured like that. I have lifted ~90,000lbs off a trailer situated right next to me quite frequently. And once did 109,000lbs under very special circumstances. It can also lift 5,000lbs at 130' radius, again, under certain conditions.
Apprenticed in the 1990's, journeyman in 2003, worked for my father's company till it sold in 2013. Been running my Link belt ever since.
The crane is what's known as a "pin boom". Where the hydraulic cylinder pushes out a section, based on a preset boom mode, then pins it, retracting to grab another. It can take 10 minutes to extent to the full 140 feet, and 10 minutes to retract it.
